In this Campfire Chat  I talk to Mike from Scoutadelic.

Scoutadelic is a YouTube channel all about Scouting. Mike tours around the UK finding co hosts to help him with spreading the fun of Scouts.

Hello, thanks for joining us! Tell us about yourself, what group you’re with, where in the world you are.

I’m Mike, I have a YouTube channel called Scoutadelic and I’m also part of the Scout Active Support Unit Scout Content. I’m based primarily in Hull, UK but often travel around the UK

What’s your Scouting Role and how long have you been involved with Scouts for?

10yrMy current role is just a member, but have been an Assistant Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader in my time. I’ve been involved with Scouting over 10 years now, getting close to 15 I think…

Name 1 random fact about yourself.

I’m a published author

Where you in the scouting movement yourself when you was a child?

I was a Scout, became a APL and PL

Are you a Camper or glamper?

Camper. Love a tent, love a hammock more, but only if I can somehow bring a duvet in cold conditions. Love looking out at the stars.

What do you always take with you on camp? I’m not talking about the essentials such as tent, sleeping bag.

A teddybear, I always bring my teddybear with me no matter what.

What is the best piece of advice you can give to fellow Scout  leader ?

Make it fun for you. If you’re not having fun, then how do you expect the Scouts around you to enjoy the programme and become invested into it? And always thank your Leaders, yes we do it for free, and a thank you is free but worth a lot.

How do you relax / spend your ‘free time?

Movies. I’m a HUGE movie fan, so if I’m not editing or procrastinating, it’s a movie that I’m watching, whether new or some of my favourites.

What’s your most funniest Scouting memory?

The mad adventures I did with my Cub Pack. Every week was full of humour, hilarious things. My poor Cubs, I’m literally not sure how they coped, but they at least enjoyed it. They were as mad as they come. Theme camps, Battleships on a Monday night. I’ve also got so many mad and funny adventures with Scoutadelic. Don’t think I can pinpoint one.

Where is your favourite place to camp?

York Snowball Plantation was a good place but I do enjoy Scout Park, it was a great place for my Cub Pack and I always attend the London Monopoly Run there…

If you could have dinner with anyone? Dead or alive, who would it be?

Steve Backshall

Steve Backshall… he seems a really sweet person. Would really love to chat to him.

Thanks Mike you for taking part!
