Welcome back to another week of Campfire Chat. I love this section and it’s so nice getting to know Scout Volunteers from around the world.

If you haven’t joined in with Campfire Chat before it’s a weekly online interview celebrating Scouting. From Leaders, to County Commissioners to volunteers the other side of the world, every Monday we share a few minutes to discuss Scouts!

So, if you would like to take part in next week’s Campfire Chat, drop me an email.

Campfire Chat with… Wendy Clair

Hello, thanks for joining us! Tell us about yourself, what group you’re with, where in the world you are.

My Scout name is Tawny, after our burg Tawny Frogmouth. I am with Berwick Central Scout Group. We’re is Victoria, Australia.

What’s your Scouting Role and how long have you been involved with Scouts for?

I am an Assistant Scout Leader and have been for 2 years.

Name 1 random fact about yourself.

I am a qualified accountant.

Where you in the scouting movement yourself when you were a child?

No, I was a dancer so, wasn’t allowed an outdoor life in case I got injured.

Are you a Camper or glamper?

I’m definitely a camper and love it!

What do you always take with you on camp? I’m not talking about the essentials such as tent, sleeping bag.

My needle and threads to sew on blanket badges.

What is the best piece of advice you can give to fellow Scout leader?

Be honest and true to yourself.

How do you relax/ spend your ‘free time?

by reading a good book.

What’s your funniest Scouting memory?

Driving up a hill at a scout camp with 5 adults in a golf cart and not having enough power in it to get up the hill. We all sat there pretending to run our feet like Fred Flintstone to try and get the cart moving. It didn’t get us far.

Where is your favourite place to camp?

We love to camp along the Murray River, on the Victorian side of the border, Barmah State Forest.

If you could have dinner with anyone? Dead or alive, who would it be?

Marilyn Monroe
