Things you only know if you’re a Beaver Leader.
According to Beaver Leaders from 1st Facebook Scout Group…
- Just how many teeth children lose between the ages of 6-8!
- How easy Beavers can do the floss.
- How much a child can achieve if they get the opportunity and trust to try. And how much noise they can produce.
- How many funny looks you get when you’re standing in a supermarket aisle attempting to count the number of individual items inside a sealed packet.
- Herding cats may well be easier.
- They have telepathically linked bladders….. one needs a wee ….. they all do.
- You are not as grown up as you thought you were.
- Neckers apparently are a tasty snack.
- Any activity that takes 5 mins to complete for me takes 45 mins for a bunch of kids!
- Clapping three times is the magic spell for quiet.
- That at the end of camp there will be one pair of pants and one sock that Mr Nobody owns.
- They breed like gremlins. You turn round there is one turn back and there is 10!!! Take your eyes off of them again and they all disappear!!!
- They can smell fear!!
- You know 80000 different ways to play tag.
- That a beaver colony has its own aroma and unless you miss a few meetings you never notice that aroma.
- How to tie grubby shoelaces backwards without putting your knee on the wet ground.

I am a Beaver Leader. It has been 4 days since my last exposure to the turquoise ninjas. I have another 14 days till my next ‘boost’ (due to the Xmas hols) A nice and much needed break…..but I am likely to experience withdrawal symptoms. Beavers are the best!
Full credit to Beaver Leaders!!
Beavers are way too loud for me
Beavers cannot keep cereal in a bowl without spilling it.
Even when sitting down.
And not touching the bowl.
You can find the end of the sticky tape in seconds because you get so much practise. They then lose it again and again …
you will know more about everything you do with them once they start talking and letting you in to how their minds work and the world will never be the same again for you
Anything in turquoise and less than 3 feet tall has two speeds, stop and full on.!?
WAIT! They know how to stop?
Yes to all! I love the term turquoise ninjas – there’s a reason you can spot one from a distance in the dimmest of lights. Personally, I never stop being surprised and entertained by our fab Beavers!
They only have one volume.
This is so true and David I’ve been called a super hero a few times lol.
Best one i had was a couple of weeks ago when working on the floor a beaver said I can see all of your grey hair you must be really old and about 24, not bad for someone whose 50 lol
Joking apart – many outside of Scouting will not actually realise that this actually makes you a super hero in many situations. You need to get this on a t-shirt!
When your in the middle of your local town centre on a busy Saturday afternoon and all of the sudden you hear ‘look there’s rainbow’ and everyone looks to the sky but you know that a blue ninja has spotted you!
Beavers are a tad too shrill for me, but my cubs do at least 3/4 of those things anyway,
And yes I have been randomly glomped in a supermarket before, lady behind me tried and failed to keep a streight face but she was a brown owl so knew the feeling well!
…only thing I would add is the extensive knowledge of every creepy crawly known to man imparted to leaders by the blue ninjas themselves ….they excel at bringing them to you in various forms too ?
In the Netherlands, Beavers wear red…. so we have red ninjas. Yes to every point given, love my little monsters. Go Beavers!
