In 1907, Robert Baden-Powell held his first experimental camp on Brownsea Island, a moment that changed the world for millions of young people. As a Scout Leader, visiting this historic site is a true pilgrimage. But as we explored the island, we were shocked to find how little the Scouting heritage is promoted compared to wildlife and bird-watching.

In this vlog, we search for the key landmarks, including the famous Scout Stone, and discuss why the National Trust seems to be downplaying the island’s massive influence on Scouting history.
