After years of trying (and failing) to get all my Scout Leaders together in one place, I’ve finally accepted the reality – it’s just not going to happen 100% of the time. Whether it’s family commitments, work schedules, or just life getting in the way, there’s always someone who can’t make it.
But that doesn’t mean I’m giving up! In this video, I share my honest struggles as a Group Scout Leader and my NEW approach for 2026: scheduled, regular socials on the first Friday of every other month. No more sporadic “let’s meet at the pub” messages – we’re putting it in the diary and making it happen.
I talk through all my ideas for bringing leaders together throughout the year – from casual low-cost gatherings to more adventurous trips. As Scout Leaders, we often forget that WE need community too. After 15 years in Scouting, some of my closest friends are fellow Leaders, and I want to create more of those connections within my group in 2026.
