They don’t know they’re doing it most of the time but Scout’s have an incredible knack of telling lies. Got me thinking what are the most common lies they tell so I started a list
“Yes We did checked the tent last week! we don’t know why there’s a missing tent pole! – that’s because you. Never actually checked it, I know that cos. I saw your patrol standing chatting, thankfully I packed a spare tent for this reason…
“It wasn’t me” yes another corker, usually heard as they hold something they’ve just broken.
“I did the washing up last time”
Sometimes said without prompting.
“I promise you, I did give my permission slip to my mum/dad”. Strange that,as I can see the latter still in your top pocket of your Scout Shirt!
“Akela, she/he pushed me!” When they’ve actually just fallen over their own feet.
“I can’t find it, I’ve looked everywhere” Most commonly heard when the tent hammer is missing.
“I didn’t have time to sew on my badges” otherwise known”. As I forgot to ask my mum to sow them on.
“My Patrol Leader said I can” Likelihood is they didn’t
“No I didn’t fart” Sometimes the Young Leader can be blamed on this too.
“I dont know where my Woggle is” you’ve bought so many new woggles, it’s probably cheaper to buy your own leather and make them yourself
“Akela, I don’t feel very well” Usually this is said, the moment tents and camping equipment needs to be packed away.
What ones have I missed? What do you hear in your Scout Group?
