Day 4 – School play ground games

Just a simple walk in the park turned into a darts competition between me and my kids using mother nature.

Walking around the Park for our daily family afternoon walk, I pointed out an old school game I used to play with my mates which was grass darts. How many grass darts could we throw on someone without them realising?!

A patch of mouse Barley

Up until now that’s nearly 30yrs I never new it was a called Mouse Barley or Wall Barley. It’s amazing what you learn when researching for 30 days wild!

Wall Barley can grow to 30 cm in height and its unbranched spikes can reach 10 cm long. It is quite widespread and common. It flowers during May through July in mainly coastal areas.

The feathery flower spikes of Wall barley or it’s other common name “Mouse Barley” are a common sight along many urban pavements, growing in between the cracks in paving soabs and walls. It flowers appear from June to July, and although they may look soft, they are as clingy as Burdock burs

You probably did just what u did at school and did today with my kids was to throw then at each other to get them to stick them to someone else.
